MN and other boards - etiquette question

So... if I see you on MN, do I say hello?

Do we need a secret handshake or something?

Would everyone feel more comfortable if we pretended that we didn't "know" each other when we're over there?

haha secret signal of some kind, now that could be amusing I tend to stalk am i being unreasonable a lot because it always amazes me how the threads end up, but i dont post all that much really.

I think it's a good idea to say hi on mn - if we can also get in a couple of shameless plugs for this forum it can only be a good thing...

Ali, it can be scary when you are new and don't really know anyone - I suppose it can be a bit like real life

It's nice and quiet here. And when it does get really busy and is full of people that we don't know, we'll always be "special" because we were here at the beginning

Ali, I've been on and off MN for about 18 months. It can be intimidating. It's best to lurk for a while, post on non-contentious threads but prepare a witty and informed rebut just in case. I just go on the more fun threads - films, music, tv etc - and a weight loss club - and I've never had a row with anyone (yet).

Ali its not too bad, stay clear of the breastfeeding threads as they always break out in fighting, but again have had some really good support from there.

Squonk, following on from that thread earlier on mn about the snu - I've always wanted to ask on mn but felt stupid - what's with the link to the bat picture?

Am I being really dim?
